I had an excellent experience through the Beech Hill School Direct programme when I trained in 2014-15. The structure of the course - with its emphasis on time spent in school, working alongside an experienced teacher - suited me ideally, and meant that I rapidly developed a true understanding of how day-to-day teaching, planning, assessment and behaviour management work. The standard of in-school training provided by Beech Hill, within a wider network of schools, was exceptional, and provided a valuable counterpoint to the academic platform offered by Northumbria University. I found the whole scheme to be very effective, my in-school mentor was terrific, and I felt supported and encouraged at every step.
